Diary 343: How i help cancer patient

As one who has some knowledge & experience about cancer and holistic treatment, cancer patients visit me from time to time.

What do I do?

Helping them to find the causes of their cancer.

Asking them what can they do to handle the causes identified.

Encouraging them the things they can do to help themselves.

What ever their decision, i always respect their decision.

I never interfer with their decision.

If they do not want to adjust their lifestyle, let be it.

For those who sincere wish to help themselve, I do not mind taking a further step to help them.

All these are done Free of Charge. No fee. No selling of products. I even give them my health books (in English, Mandarin and Malay).

Why do I do these?

Simply, we are all beings. We need to help each other.

Diary 342: Reducing breast cancer risk

Studies have indicated the following 2 important things.

Obesity (especially post-menopausal weight gain), late menopause, and hormone replacement therapy or HRT (exceeding 5 years) increase breast cancer risk.

On the other hand, a diet rich in soy isoflavones (eg. genistein, which is knowwn to have anti-breast cancer effects), reduces breast cancer risk.

Moreover, a nutrient-dense diet made of fruits, vegetables, legumes, grains and nuts also reduces the risk of all cancer.

Diary 341: E.coli bacteria

Be ware of the below news reported in The Star, 4 June 2011.

BERLIN: More than 1,600 people have been infected by a toxic strains of E.coli bacteria that has killed at least 18 and may be the deadliest yet in human history, health officials said.

Germany is the centre of the outbreak.

Some 1,624 people in Europe and the United States have so far become ill, probably eating contaiminated vegetables and salads.

With the exact source of illness still a mystery, consumers appear to be increasingly nervous around the world.

E.coli bacteria themselves are harmless.

But the strain that is making people sick in Europe has the ability to stick to intestinal walls where it pumps out toxins, sometimes causing sever bloody diarrhoea and other complications.

Implication for consumers: take care of the vegetables and salads consumed.

Diary 339: Print books for free distribution

I was at the Malaysian Hainanese Lim Clan Association on 19 June 2011 where I gave my health books away FOC to those interested to lead a healthier and happier life naturally.

A new Hainanese friend asked how do I come up with the printing cost if I only give away books free.

The current methods. (1) Try to get those who wish to do good deed together. (2) Get friends like Wan Cheng to assist sourcing donations. (3) When the books are given out and new updated printing is needed and the fund sourced is inadequate, I will cover the rest.

Donors will have their names listed in the books to show appreciation and encourage others to do such good deeds. Malaysian donor will receive 1 book if the donation is RM20, 5 books for RM100 donation, 10 books for RM200 donation and so on. The donor can give away the books to those he/she loves or cares, such as parents, brothers and sisters, bosses and colleagues.

Donors can choose the version of health books to be sponsored and to be received.

My bank account: Maybank Lim Hin Fui 114208670520. Please email me and Wan Cheng when donation is deposited. You may also SMS to 012-3615905

Diary 339: Eye care in Malaysia

“Based on (audit company GfK) statistics, there are about 900,000 contact lens wearers in Malaysia.”

There are currently 881 registered optometrists and 560 opticians permitted to prescribe and dispense contact lens.

The issue: Many opticians are prescribing contact lenes even though they do not receive adequate training.

Ideally, opticians wishing to prescribe and dispense contact lenses should obtain a bachelor’s degree in optometry.

Tertiary training includes basic and applied sciences such as microbiology, physiology, ocular pathology, ocular anatomy and biochemistry.

Those wearing contact lenses should take note of the above.

(Source: 4 June 2011, The Star).

Your eye care affects your health.

Better still, do not wear contact lenses.

Why?

Just observe the extent of optometrists and opticians.

Many of them just wear glasses, not contact lenses.

Diary 338: Ditipu apabila anak sakit

Emak (berumur 51 tahun) mulai bimbang.

(Sumber kisah sebenar: 4 Jun 2011, The Star).

Diary 337: At the 22nd Pacific Science Congress

The above PSC was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 14-17 June 2011.

Other than presenting an oral paper, I have done the following good things.

I brought about 60 copies of my health books and distributed free to selected participants, schools and unversities (such as Fiji National University, University of Guam, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris).

The self-healing method of clapping body joints, hands, legs and back was taught to 3 local professors (one from UKM and 2 from UPM).

Caught up with Anthony Wong of Asian Overland Services when we exchanged views on practising healthy living. He expressed interest to sponsor part of the printing cost of my health book later.

This is probably the last large scale international congress in the life career as I will be 58 years old in 2011, the year government servants to retire officially.

Diary 336: Cara Berhenti Merokok

Diary 335: Membantu Bapa Berhenti Merokok

Diary 334: Cabaran Berhenti Merokok

Memang mencabar sekiranya ingin berhenti merokok, perlu adanya faktor penggalak.

Orang yang ingin berhenti merokok perlu bersedia menghadapi kesan-kesan "withdrawal syndrome".

Itulah sebabnya mengapa berhenti merokok memerlukan pendekatan berperingkat (phase approach).

Soalnya, adakah anda berhenti merokok?

Diary 333: Melatonin

Melatonin is a hormone produced by the peneal grand, situated at the base of the brain.

This hormone is best known for regulating the sleep and wake cycles.

It also plays many other important riles in the body, including maintaining a healthy immune system, serving as an antioxidant, and regulating the menstrual cycle.

Melatonin send chemical messages to various parts of the body and tells the different organs or tissues to produce more hormones or carry out certain tasks.

Production of melatonin is stimulated by darkness and inhibited by light. This is what makes the pineal gland our “internal clock”.

The question is: melatoinin supplementation is now a controversial issue.

Being controversial, would you engage in melatonin supplementation?

Diary 332: Cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is a cancer that affects women of different ages.

It is the second most common cancer occurring in women, after breast cancer.

Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer among Malaysian females after breast and colorectal cancer.

It begins in the cervix – the part of the uterus (or womb) that opens to the vagina.

One of the causes of cervical cancer is persistent infection with an extremely common and contagious virus: the human papilomavirus (HPV).

Factors contributing to the persistence of cancer causing HPV infection and the subsequent development of cervical cancer include the followings.

A young age at first sexual experience.

High number of pregnancies.

Cigarette smoking.

Long-term use of oral contraceptives

Other sexually transmitted infections (e.g. Herpes simplex virus, Chlamydia).
The above are explanations given the medical professionals.

Any other causes?

How about abortion?

How about too frequent sexual intercourse?

How about the unhealthy food taken?

Perhaps, the scientists may also wish to look into these factors.

Diary 331: Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a therapeutic method that was developed by German physician Samuel Christian Hahnemann at the end of the 18th century.

It works by stimulating the body’s ability to heal itself by giving very small doses of highly diluted substances.

In homeopathy, practitioners rarely treat a disease alone in isolation, or on its own.

Depending on the type of underlying disease that is present in a patient, the patient is managed individually.

The patient’s physical and emotional state is evaluated and treatment is tailored accordingly.

More people are turning to alternative medication such as homeopathy when conventional treatments fail to bring the desired effects.

If you know how to maintain and reclaim good health naturally, you do not even have to see treatment in homeopathy.

Diary 331: Practitioners in traditional and complementary medicine

It was reported that more Malaysians are seeking complementary medicine due to fear of side effects from medicine drugs and invasive surgeries.

A study by the Institute for Medical Research and the Institute for health Systems Research in 2004 showed that 69% of Malaysians sought complementary medicine services at some point in their lives.

It was estimated that currently there are 12,104 local practitioners registered with eight practitioner bodies in the country.

Efforts are being made by the Health Ministry to gradually integrate special units for traditional and complementary medicine in hospitals.

Nine government hospitals have already set up such units.

But be ware, there are also many practitioners who were not certified thus putting patients at risk of being given the wrong treatment or misled by false claims.
