Diary 382: Gout
Gout is a joint disease affecting a growing number of people.
It is a form of arthritis.
It is caused by a buildup of uric acid in the blood.
When uric acid crystallises in the joints, it causes inflammation and pain.
Increse risk of gout: too much consumption of meat, seafood, sugar, alcohol, beer, soda drink.
What to do if one has gout?
Lose weight.
Cut back on alcohol, meat and sea food.
Eat more fruit, vegetables, and low-fat dairy foods.
