The stomach acts as a mixer, breaking down food into smaller pieces and adding digestive juices to allow for easier absorption.
If we do not ‘grind’ our food well in the mouth, our stomach will have to work harder.
So, what we need to do spend extra minutes to chew our food properly.
This helps the stomach to function effectively and hence avoids problems such as constipation and indigestion.
There is now a movement called Slow Food that encourages people to eat the food slowly.
Also important is the taking of fibre and water. They are the ‘softener’ and ‘lubricant’ to ensure smooth bowel movements.
